Dublin based alt-pop duo 'mischa and the bear' are producer Mischa and vocalist Bear, formed in early 2025. Operating entirely from their shared bedroom studio, the duo have built a self-contained creative world rooted in DIY culture, digital intimacy, and visual chaos. Their work blends synth-pop, witch-house, and electropop into something both nostalgic and forward-facing, lending itself well to the resurgence of indie sleaze while carving out a distinct, darker identity of their own.
'mischa and the bear' are rapidly emerging as one of Ireland’s most exciting new acts. In 2026 alone, the duo were named a Rising Artist by RTÉ 2FM, and secured a Silver Selection at the Berlin Music Video Awards, as well as booking multiple festival slots around Ireland. ‘mischa and the bear’ have earned Track of the Week four times on RTÉ 2FM, with support from BBC Across the Line and Radio X.
They debuted in 2025 with their first single Deny, praised by RTÉ 2FM as “whopper” and described by Nialler9 as “very fucking great.” Babystep Magazine highlighted the track’s “industrial textures, distorted beats and haunting intensity,” while ChordBlossom called it “intelligent and emotionally resonant.” The duo have also received notable support from District Magazine, Joe.ie, and Hotpress, amongst others.
Their song Sing It also gained recognition on Spotify editorial playlists 'alt_ie' and 'A Breath of Fresh Éire', expanding their reach further. In 2026, the duo released an Irish-language adaptation of the track, called Abair, which gained significant attention in Irish-language circles and media.
The duo continue to build a following drawn to their genre-blurring sound. Their debut EP, Even Unto The Next World, was released on August 8th, 2025.
2026 will see their first live shows and the release of a second EP, bringing their dark, ethereal, and punchy sound to new audiences.
