The Rumours

The Rumours are a Tippereay based alternative rock band, consisting of five friends all woven together by their passion for writing strong, meaningful rock and roll songs. There first demo was the first of southern based bands to win 'Pick of the Fortnight' in Ireland’s leading music magazine Hotpress hand-picked by Jackie Hayden. In both 2006 & 2007 the band took to the Crawdaddy stage to rapturous crowds at the Electric Picnic Festival. Their 2007 set was played out to 57 different countries on radio. In that year they also played top venues around the country such as Whelans, The Sugar Club, An Roisin Dubh, Galway and Cypress Avenue, Cork. As well as managing to secure a recording deal with legendary Irish independent record label, Reekus Records. In July of 2007 The Rumours released their debut single 'Keep It Going' which peaked at No.2 in the Irish Download Chart. In October 2008 they released their well anticipated new E.P 'When The Sun Hits Your Eyes'. The single off the E.P of the same name was selected to be part of the downloadmusic.ie compilation album to be released nationwide, reached No. 1 on the Irish download Chart, won the Rumours 'The Next Big Thing' Hotpress Competition and was picked as 'Song of the Week' on Today FM's Alison Curtis Show on its first week of release. After a break from music in 2009 the band started 2010 on a high being picked for the final 24 of the HOTPRESS Tiger Untamed Competition. Since they have spent most of there time writing and recording for debut album with new demo getting lots of airplay and praise from Today FM Dj Alison Curtis.
