the bahh band

Other // GALWAY, Galway

What happens when an ancient Eastern musical tradition gets thrown upon the shores of a buzzing multi-cultural city in the West of Ireland?

The result is Irish collective- the Bahh Band.

Fused upon on a bedrock of Indian classical music, tangled up with bluegrass , driven by pulsating acoustic and electric rhythms and infused with ethereal vocals in the style of Eastern and Irish traditions, the Bahh Band brew up a beautiful musical melting pot.

This is fusion music at its best, relaxed and organic. There is the profound sense of joy of a natural conversation between skilful and richly experienced musicians. The Bahh Band are notorious for their impassioned and semi-improvised live shows.

The group have played in underground anarchist clubs in Italy, psy-trance parties in the Connemara wilderness, contemplative sets for Indian hugging Guru, Ama and whipped up crowds into frenzies at major Irish festivals such as the Electric Picnic, Body N Soul and the Festival of World Cultures. They have received radio play across Europe and Asia and have supported world music stalwarts such as Afro Cubism and Kíla.

Since completing their recent surf tour of the rugged West Coast of Ireland, next on the group’s horizons are rocking the gypsy souls of India and South-East Asia.
