Stereotony
Stereotony is a brand new 4 piece alternative-folk-rock/art punk band based in Dublin.
The project first emerged in 2025 as a vessel for songwriter Liam Moran's energetic, passionate solo performances.
Having previously performed extensively with bands such as Galway's Back to Winnipeg("Rising Stars of the Irish Music Scene"- Hot Press), in 2025 songwriter Liam Moran moved to Dublin with a vision for a new project; Stereotony.
Wanting to incorporate influences as diverse as the proto-punk of Iggy Pop and the Stooges, the new-wave art-funk of Talking Heads and the indie-country-pop of CMAT, Moran set to work.
In 2025 Moran honed his songwriting for Stereotony, spending much of his time travelling back to his native Ennis to record for the project's debut releases (coming 2026) with recording engineer Eoin Purcell (Hill Hazel Studio). Enlisting the help of longtime friends Ryan Killowry(Animal Animal) and Saul Kenny(also Animal Animal) on drums and bass guitar, Stereotony soon gained a life of it's own.
At the end of 2025, Moran and his collaborators made the decision to form a band around the project, adding guitarist Rónán Wright(Clefsico/Skull The Pierre), a longtime friend of the trio, to round out the lineup. Coincidentally (or perhaps not) all 4 members ended up being Clare natives. Up the Banner.
Regardless; Stereotony was finally born.
In this new era, Stereotony concocts a sound capturing influences from the 70s art-punk of Patti Smith and Lou Reed, to the infectious oddities of alternative rock icons Pixies and modern rockers Geese.
Stereotony reinforces passionate musings on alienation, late capitalism and life's general instability with a unique, infectious energy that's sure to leave crowds hungry for more.
Stereotony look forward to a busy 2026, as they gear up for the release of their debut single "Lester Nygaard" in the Spring.
