Micheál Quinn is an Irish drummer, composer and producer whose work moves between explosive rock energy and atmospheric electronic music.

Best known for his years as the touring drummer for Dermot Kennedy during the artist’s rapid rise onto the international stage, Quinn has performed in arenas and major festivals around the world, helping power one of Ireland’s most successful modern live shows.

Alongside his touring work, he has long been connected to Ireland’s alternative and experimental scenes. as a member of Enemies and has also performed with And So I Watch You From Afar, bringing a distinctive mix of precision, power and musical intuition to technically demanding music. He is a founding member of irish experimental act, Meltybrains?.

In 2024 he was invited to Los Angeles to play with Foo Fighters during a private audition process, where his playing drew praise from Dave Grohl and the band.

Under his solo project Waves, Quinn explores a different side of his musical identity, crafting immersive electronic and instrumental pieces built from rhythm, texture and emotion. Drawing on years of experience on the world’s stages, the project channels the same intensity and feeling that defined his drumming career into a more expansive sonic landscape.
