Irish multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer Jamie Dean has built a career defined by expansive soundscapes, dynamic live performances and cross-genre versatility.
Jamie Dean spent a decade performing worldwide with Irish post-rock pioneers God Is an Astronaut, contributing to multiple studio albums and playing sold-out shows across the globe. Following his tenure with the band, Jamie Dean joined the touring lineup of acclaimed singer-songwriter Gavin James, performing on lead guitar, bass, keys and backing vocals on major international stages.
Alongside his band work, Jamie Dean has released music under his own name, earning national radio support from RTÉ 2FM and FM104. His solo material has also expanded into the gaming world, featuring in a forthcoming PlayStation and Xbox title, for which he composed and scored the official trailer premiered by IGN.
Now, Jamie Dean enters a new chapter with Glass Pawns — a two-piece grunge rock project forged from over a decade of international touring and studio experience. Louder, heavier and more immediate, Glass Pawns distils everything that came before into a powerful, stripped-back sound rooted in raw energy and atmosphere. Fronted by Dean on guitar and vocals, the band is completed by powerhouse drummer Gary McGuinness, frontman of The Survival Code.
Already making their mark on the live circuit, Glass Pawns have opened for revered alt-rock trio Fangclub at Whelan’s and supported God Alone at The Workman’s Club. With their first overseas shows in London approaching, momentum is building quickly.
The debut Glass Pawns EP, The Weight of Want, has been recorded and is set for release this year — a raw, heavy and melodic statement of intent that captures the grit, intensity and hard-earned experience behind the project.
Bridging cinematic post-rock and visceral grunge, Jamie Dean’s work balances atmosphere and impact — music that resonates as deeply in close quarters as it does on global stages.
