“Cult Pop” from Cork.
DEAD / IDØL is Johnny Vaughan and producer/multi-instrumentalist Chris McDonald. Formed in 2018, the duo have spent the intervening years quietly building a catalogue of dark, atmospheric alternative music around a recurring theme of disconnection.
The songs move between electronic textures, guitar-driven alternative rock and melodic songwriting without abandoning the identity at the centre of the project—the contradiction DEAD / IDØL call “cult pop.”
Debut single An Event Horizon is streaming now. Follow-up Heavy Light arrives this autumn.
