Scoilt

Electronic // Athlone, Westmeath // He/Him

Conor Hayes is an Irish music producer, musician and engineer. Starting out in the 1990s as a guitarist gigging in the vibrant rock/grunge era, Hayes recorded early ideas on 4-track machines in his bedroom before shifting toward electronic music in search of greater creative freedom beyond traditional rock structures. He became deeply immersed in electronic music, making mostly beat driven and melodic IDM/electronica tracks driven by instinct and the search for creative flow. What began as a personal space for mindfullness soon expanded into sharing demos and performing at pubs, clubs, and house parties across Ireland and the UK under the moniker Splintboy. In the mid-2000s, Hayes was also a member of the folktronica group Spool, whose EP earned recognition as Irish Times “CD of the Week.” While living in Denmark in 2024, Hayes began developing new music with the intent of releasing tracks as Scoilt—a collaborative and experimental platform. Now returned to Ireland, the musical project will explore the intersection of styles and sounds. The vision is to blend and experiment with analog and digital production technologies and collaborate with friends and artists, with a vision of evolving from online releases into live performances.
