Don’t be fooled by the name, Dublin band Ciúnas are far from quiet. Bursting into the live scene with a sold-out debut show at The Grand Social in March 2023, the band have been a constant presence in the Irish music scene since.
United by a shared love of CMAT, The Cranberries, and Fleetwood Mac, Ciúnas blend classic melodic songwriting with a modern indie edge, bringing queer, female-led stories boldly to the forefront of their music.
Their debut single Foggy is a silky, slow-burn indie rock track that captures the intimate, often disorienting moments of young queer womanhood. Praised by Hot Press as “a hazy mix of jangling guitars and a steady drum beat, the song lives up to its name, with the laid-back tempo creating a moody atmosphere that would be at home in any Phoebe Bridgers track".
Ciúnas gained attention with their single ‘My Eyes’, amassing over 80,000 streams across platforms and cementing the band as ones to watch. Media attention followed with features from Dan Hegarty on 2FM, Claire Beck, Radio Nova and coverage from The GOO, Hotpress, District and Joe.ie
The band's most recent release, Punched Out is a perfect blend of the band's snappy and fun lyricism matched with emotional depth and exploration into being a woman in this male dominated industry.
Ciúnas are making noise, and they have no intention of quieting down anytime soon.
