Bríd Lyons

Folk // Dublin // She/Her

Bríd Lyons is a folk musician, singer, and songwriter from Kilkenny who weaves poetic lyricism with acoustic melodies to craft songs that explore the beauty of nature and the complexity of the human experience. Drawing inspiration from artists like Hozier, Ye Vagabonds, Lisa Hannigan, and Anna Mieke, Bríd’s music blends Celtic roots with an ethereal quality. Her sound moves seamlessly from haunting a cappella melodies to intricate, rhythmically layered acoustic arrangements, all grounded in the timeless traditions of folk music. In recent years, Bríd has been selected as one of the KCLR representatives in the HotPress Local Hero Talent Search and has played several prestigious gigs such as the Ruby Sessions and Whelan's Ones to Watch.
Bríd has also supported Irish folk giants such as Sharon Shannon in Whelan’s Main Room, Lisa O’Neill, Rónán Ó’Snodaigh, and Myles O’Reilly at the beautiful St. Canice’s Cathedral, and opened for Jerry Fish on Kilkenny Day.

Bríd has been building her identity as a composer and performer for the past 9 years, working both independently and in collaboration with others. Her single, October, marked her debut as a solo artist. Her second single, Mother, was awarded The Circle Sessions Song of the Year in 2022. She followed up with I Must Go in April 2023, and then launched her debut EP, Tied to the Turf, that May. Bríd embarked on a co-headline Irish tour that May, selling out the Hole in the Wall in her hometown of Kilkenny.

In November 2024, Bríd released Lantern Song, a declaration of a new creative era marked by emotional depth and maturity. The release was accompanied by a haunting music video, further immersing listeners in Bríd’s unique artistic vision.
The release of Mothlight in February 2025 was marked by a headline show in Whelans, where Bríd was accompanied by Aisling Bridgeman on violin and cellist, Caitríona Finnegan.
Her latest release, Pasture, came last August and is a tribute to a family friend who passed away. It invites us to look at the transient nature of life and be grateful for the ordinary moments.

As she knuckles down in Jejune Studios, Bríd is preparing for an exciting 2026 and a fruitful 2027. Next January will see the release of her debut album, yet untitled. Her work has been featured in IMRO, Golden Plec, The Last Mixed Tape, Ragged Cast, Hotpress, and many more, establishing her as a compelling voice in the Irish folk scene and an artist to watch.
