Hey there!!
Thank you so much for tuning in! I hope you're doing well!
Here's a breakdown of my music experience.
Prelude - My older brother plays guitar, and when I was around 9, it influenced me to pick it up along with the drums. Dealing with mental issues, I was told I would have to work that bit harder than everybody else and at such a young age, music was always thee release. With the complications of the world, music was so direct and instant.
At age 14-17 - I had found The White stripes and the blues, teaching me to play with the basics. I started learning piano by skipping classes and playing my schools piano since I didn't have one at home. I was playing drums for two bands; busking, playing anywhere we could and competing in battle of the bands competitions.
At age 20 - Writing my own music, I started going out on my own. I was playing open mics around Dublin, meeting new people and learning about the music industry.
At age 23 - I got into Ballyfermot for Contemporary Music Performance, a.k.a Rock School. After hearing Callous Crows and Jamie Leighs; Howling Pack Of Wolves, I met Dylan O'Shaughnessy(keys) who thought me how to properly write and compose. Along with Jamie Nugent(drums), Fionn Kavanagh(bass) and Phillip Woodhouse(guitar), we formed the band Grunkle Funge.
By age 27 - I met Adam Kelly right when he was starting Smithfield Creatives. Every thursday evening, through covid, frosty nights and rain, Adam would set up a mic, welcoming anyone who wanted to perform. After Adam found a venue, I learned a the basics of sound engineering and started helping him. This got me behind the mixing desks for other Open Mics and small shows around Dublin.
Age 30 - With Grunkle funge playing multiple shows a week, myself doing solo gigs and sound engineering, there wasn't a day or night I had to myself. Admittedly It got chaotic and too much to handle. What was instant started to become complicated, with the office works of marketing, ticket sales, streaming services, memberships and funding, I started to step back a bit and try sort it out.
Now 32, Still learning the office work end of things, I've started learning Videography, shooting and creating my own music videos. I released a lil debut EP called Brewed Soul with four self written and recorded songs, though it professional mastered by Dawid David Kondraciuk.
My kind of passion has always been; skipping class to play the schools piano because I didn't have one at home, its carrying a snare, a kick drum, a hi hat and a stool over a kilometre to a field to jam. Its going two buses to Smithfield Square each week with amp and guitar to play in the dark cold. My passion is not-just-for-the-money kind, Its the first thing morning and the last thing at night, kind of passion.
Anyways Thank you so much for reading! :)
