Whistle are a six-piece band with a worrying tendency towards Americana style folk and roots originals and covers. Multi-part vocal harmonies set the scene, with driving guitar, a bass and percussion engine room, banjo for muscle, violin for depth, and accordion, harmonica and mandolin along for the skit.
A whistle gig is always an entertaining gig!
Nothing is sacred with this band, but everything has to fit. A crafty mix of Whistle originals, Avett Brothers, Neil Young, Tom Waits, The Band, Johnny Cash, Ron Sexsmith, The Lumineers, Old Crow Medicine Show - they’re all in it together. Add in a raft of old bluegrass numbers, and you've pretty much got Whistle.
The band has been in business in some or other form for 10 years or so, formed by Jerome Corby (vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica) and Des Walsh (vocals, guitars, harmonica) with the touch of class being added by Carl Lombard (vocals, banjo, guitar, accordion, harmonica), Sean Walsh (percussion), Andy Slowey (bass) and Enid Conaghan (violin).
Whistle have a wealth of gigging experience around Ireland including appearances Electric Picnic, Le Cheile and Glendalough Festivals and are always seeking new venues and opportunities .
