Wasps vs Humans

Other // Cork, Cork

Over the last ten years, Wasps vs Humans has performed as a punk poet and has gigged across Ireland, linking up with the likes of Jinx Lennon and Irish Dundalk rappers TPM. Guest spots have included John Cooper Clarke, Whipping Boy and a daring opening for The Fall.

Originally a playwright, Wasps vs Humans (aka Carl Plover) was a co-director of a production company in London, where he worked on a comedy pilot for ITV and wrote five plays produced for theatre. More recently he has written and performed in two stage plays, 'The Nearly Men' and '4-Play' to UK and Irish audiences.

In 2019, Wasps vs Humans published his novella 'Evel America' following the publication of his debut novel, 'The Mattress' and his first poetry collection entitled 'Sustain Your Ability To Satisfy'.

Musically he has released an L.P and single with UK based 80s avant garde/ experimental band, 4,000,000 Telephones, which gained critical acclaim in the UK national press and made the playlist of BBC Radio 1’s John Peel show. His more recent collaborations include the release of two singles with Cork based music producers and composers, Peter Power and Dave Duffy and over the last four years has curated and compered the spoken word stage at the Indiependence Music & Arts Festival in Ireland.
