Walshy

Soul // Swords, Dublin

Walshy's debut full-length, "few beers", is a mixed bag, marrying the nostalgia and bedroom aesthetics of teenage indie, dream-pop and hip-hop into his own distinct, colourful style.

As the co-founder of Dublin event Sleepover Club, Luke Walsh has supported and inspired many of the most exciting musicians and artists that call Ireland home. He is now moving rapidly on his own path, improving his production, songwriting and live shows with every new release/performance the Swords resident undertakes.

Walshy made his initial mark as one half of the hip-hop duo, Caleb & Walshy. However, since 2022, he has been making waves as a solo artist, consistently dropping singles that have garnered widespread acclaim. The soulful boom-bap track, "mm mm good (in the cellar)," featuring Curtisy, was chosen as track of the week on RTE2fm by Fionnuala Moran. His song "Confrontation," featuring lowkick, received overwhelming support from renowned radio host Jyoty on RINSEfm. Notably, his track "Shower," featuring XO LU, secured a coveted spot on Spotify's New Music Friday UK.

Walshy hosted his album launch night at the Workman's Cellar, which quickly sold out. The evening served as a celebration of Walshy's entire solo discography and was filled with a collaborative spirit highlighting the sense of community that Walshy has fostered within the Irish music scene.

Walshy's work has received consistent airplay on RTE2FM, RINSE FM and BBC Introducing along with support from Wonderland, NOTION, C-Heads, Hot Press, ChillDaBeats, District, Nialler9 and Goldenplec.

“Long Time” sees him returning to the intricate sample-based soundscape of his soulful Caleb & Walshy roots, with a blend of influences, ranging from Elliott Smith, Beach House, and Kanye West, the balmy, dazed new track is a coalescence of this rich musical consumption. - Wonderland
