Vesperella is the electronic music persona of visual artist Elena Duff. Her practice moves between electronic music and visual art. The inclusion of sound is an integral part of recent visual works, providing texture and atmosphere for a more immersive experience. She also composes electronic music as standalone pieces.
Originally an acoustic musician and singer, the self-production of her 2023 debut album led to an exploration of live looping, synthesis and layered recording techniques. From there, her work shifted, incorporating synths, samplers and field recordings to create a more fluid sonic language that moves between experimental sound design and rhythm-led electronic forms.
Music is composed on various hardware synths and samplers and then played live as semi-improvised sets, which maintain the key elements of the original composition but which retain the liveliness of improvisation, making every set unique.
Formally trained in music production, audio engineering and field recording, she is currently focusing new experimental musical pieces for integration within her visual art practice. In July 2026 she released a 4-track EP 'Sounds like Ice Cream' based off a set composed for a live performance at Bloop Group in Dublin.
Elena was also a recipient of a First Music Contact grant to attend Superbooth in 2026
