Trevor Knight is a composer/director/actor who specializes in multi-disciplinary and collaborative work.

Keyboard player in 1970’s with Irish bands Naima and Metropolis. In 1980 in Holland he formed Auto da Fé with singer Gay Woods. They recorded three albums-Tatitum , Five Singles and One Smoked Cod and Gazette - touring Ireland and the UK extensively. In 2001 a live BBC session "Songs for Echo" was released and a double CD compilation ‘When The Curtain Goes Bang! -An Anthology’ was released in 2020.
He released ‘The Whistling Girl’ with Honor Heffernan in 2017 and ‘Golden Arrows of the Moon” by his band The Devil’s Spine Band in 2024 and which is currently touring.

He has recorded and performed with artists such as, Philip Lynott (Thin Lizzy), Donovan, Paul Brady, Honor Heffernan, Mary Coughlan, Those Nervous Animals, The Fleadh Cowboys, Camille O’Sullivan and Roger Doyle.

He has written more than 80 scores for theatre including ‘Catalpa’ (Donal O’Kelly, which toured the world and won an Edinburgh Fringe First), Juno and the Paycock (The Abbey), and ‘Circus’ for Barabbas. A compilation of theatre and film work “Audio Tor Ium” is also available on Bandcamp

As theatre director/composer, work includes ‘Bleeding Poets’, ‘Just a Little One –A Dorothy Parker Cocktail’ and ‘The Whistling Girl’ (musical settings of the poetry of Dorothy Parker) with vocalist Honor Heffernan. This show toured Ireland, to Belgrade, London, Belfast and New York and a CD was released in 2017.

He composed the music, conceived and directed ‘slat’ (2007), ‘The Devils Spine Band’ (2011-24),’The Gift’, ‘Visitant’(2014) “A Skein Unwound” (2015) and “For One Day Only”(2014) all featuring Japanese Butoh dancers Maki Watanabe and Gyohei Zaitsu and a variety of musicians, dancers and performers.

Film soundtracks include ‘Double Carpet’ (Channel 4) and ‘What am I Doing here’ and ‘Rough Time’ (dr. Trish MacAdam), and for RADE, the shorts, ‘Spare Change’ and ‘The Tappers Opera’.

Many collaborations with visual artist Alice Maher include- ‘The Music of Things’, ‘Godchildren of Enantios’, (Dublin, London and New York) and ‘Cassandra’s Necklace’ (IMMA Dublin 2012).

He is a member of Aosdana since 2007.
