The Velvet Tide

The Velvet Tide are a 5 piece alt rock- indie folk act that are carving out a sound that’s all their own, think the pulse of alternative rock colliding with the soulful textures of melodic folk, likened to the grit of Arcade Fire meeting the soul of the Waterboys. Violins and accordions brush up against guitar-driven rock, creating a soundscape that’s dark, emotional, and strangely redemptive.

Formed in late 2024, emerging from the ashes of the alt-folk act The Incognito Brothers, this Dún Laoghaire-based collective is a meeting of seasoned musicians from Ireland’s alternative and folk scenes. What makes them special is the balance they strike, light and dark, tradition and modernity, tension and release, all living in the same space. Every voice, every instrument, feels essential to the story they’re telling through the cathartic and raw lyrics. The blend is captivating.
