The Revolt

Post-Punk // Cork, Cork

The post-punk revival is alive and kicking — and The Revolt are here to create waves. Hailing from Cork, Ireland, this explosive four-piece is unwavering with their fierce conviction, high-energy live shows, and music that hits like a riot. They co-host a monthly event "Alternative Munster", at The Poor Relation Bar on the first Saturday night of every month — giving Cork’s growing underground scene a vital platform to showcase some of Ireland’s best alternative acts.

Formed in 2022, the band is:

Jessie Russell – Lead vocals

Kalli Schlauch – Bass

Sarah O’Callaghan – Guitar & vocals

Keith “Smelly” O’Connell – Drums

Their debut EP Cultural Fla (Nov 22, 2024) introduced their snarling, unapologetic sound — anchored by singles like “Fla Boi”, “Be Real”, and “Cultural Cancelation”. With biting lyrics and blistering energy, the EP marked The Revolt as a band unafraid to speak their minds and make noise doing it.

Now, in 2025, The Revolt return with “Never Say His Name”, the explosive first single from their upcoming EP Ghost of Churchfield Shuffle (released Friday, July 25, 2025). The track draws from real-life tragedy and societal silence — a powerful tribute to Sophie Toscan du Plantier and a fierce reminder of punk’s capacity to confront injustice. The EP continues this path — a more mature, more forceful evolution of the band's voice, with themes of justice, memory, and defiance at its core. The EP was reviewed by Plastic Magazine and Hot Press magazine. While RTE Entertainment published an interview in "Behind the Music" with Jessie (lead singer) on the 26th of July 2025 right on the tail of the new EP was released.

"Dancey with that post-punk angsty energy ... A jagged anthem for the ghosted generation. Despite the haunting undertones." - Hot Press

"With the Ghost of Churchfield Shuffle, The Revolt deliver a powerful artistic statement that sees them once again take aim at important themes while serving up a riveting rock rollercoaster from start to finish" - Plastic Magazine

Adding punk vintage to their sound is drummer Keith “Smelly” O’Connell, formerly of iconic Irish punk bands Nun Attax and Five Go Down to the Sea. His influence, paired with Kalli’s thunderous bass lines, deep vocals, Sarah’s razor-wire guitar and harmonies, and Jessie’s magnetic stage presence, creates a sound that is both rooted in tradition and breaking new ground.

A Must-See Live Experience

The Revolt have quickly built a reputation for delivering an electrifying live show in Ireland’s underground scene. Their gigs are immersive, emotional, fun and cathartic — performances that don’t just entertain, but demand attention.

“The Revolt delivers an exhilarating live experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.” – Ricky Dineen, Big Boy Foolish

With a second EP on the way and a string of ferocious singles behind them, a growing reputation and unshakable message, The Revolt is not just a band to watch — they’re a band to witness.
