The Rattling Kind

Folk // Dublin, Dublin // TRK

Dublin-born singer/songwriter, guitar
player and percussionist, Eddie
Sherlock, grew up on Dublin’s northside,
surrounded by music and a strong
tradition of family performance. A late
starter to the guitar, it was in his twenties
that he discovered he could sing, after
learning a fewchords. With that, he took
to the ground running, and with his love
for Irish ballads and folk music, it wasn’t
long before he found himself performing
widely on the Dublin pub and session
scene.
Eddie started to explore and develop his
own songwriting, and with the help of
some friends, embarked on putting
together a band called ‘The Rattling
Kind’. In 2013, after recording their
debut EP ‘Rise Up’, two of Eddie’s songs
were used in the soundtrack of the
world-wide DVD release of RTE’s hit
crime drama ‘Love/Hate’. The band
subsequently performed their cult
favourite‘ All Around the Town’, also
written by Eddie, on the ‘Saturday Night
Show Live’ with Brendan O’Connor.
Eddie has also performed his original
song ‘James Connolly’s Dream’ as part
of the James Connolly 2016 centenary
for Uachtaran na hEireann, and has
appeared with ‘The RattlingKind’ on Irish
TV show ‘Mad for Sam’.
Since the release of the EP, Eddie’s
songs have been listened to by
audiences across the globe. “King of the
Road" has been a lockdown project
success, and has now reached 5.7
million streams on Spotify, and over 2
million views across social media
platforms.
After lockdown, the band recorded the
long overdue album which is now due
out in early 2024. One of the songs is a
re-release of All Around the Town
featuring the late Christy Dignam and
the mighty Damien Dempsey which was
the first single release from the album in
October 2023. The band has supported
Damien Dempsey to a packed out house
in the Marquee gig in Finnbar's GAA
club in Cabra, and Eddie also played
support at the 'Talking Bollix' live show in
the National Stadium in November 2023,
to a sold out crowd.
The Rattling Kind are led by Dublin-born

percussionist, Eddie Sherlock, He is
