Other // Douglas, Cork // He/Him

Dean Oke is a spoken word poet and creative from Cork, Ireland, whose work blends raw emotion, reflective storytelling, faith, and social commentary into deeply personal performances and recordings. Through vulnerable writing and passionate delivery, Dean creates pieces that explore identity, mental health, struggle, healing, purpose, love, faith, and the internal battles many people face but rarely speak about openly. His work is rooted in honesty, aiming to connect with listeners on a human level and create moments of reflection, comfort, and challenge through poetry and spoken word.

Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, life observations, spirituality, and the realities of modern life, Dean’s style combines emotional spoken word with rhythmic and musical influences, creating performances that are both intimate and impactful. His poetry often centres around themes of perseverance, redemption, self-worth, emotional conflict, and finding light within difficult seasons of life.

Over the years, Dean has continued to build his presence through live performances across Ireland. In 2025, he performed at Vibes and Verses and the IDEA Conference, using spoken word to engage audiences through powerful storytelling and reflective pieces. In 2026, he expanded his performance catalogue with appearances at Africa Day, Vibes and Verses, and Spoken Soul Sundays, continuing to develop a reputation for emotionally driven performances that resonate with diverse audiences.

Alongside live performances, Dean has also released a growing catalogue of spoken word and music-inspired projects on Spotify and Soundcloud.

His 2026 releases include In the Beginning, I Don’t Love Myself, Lord Have Mercy, Force Things, In Your Hands, and Life in a Bottle — each reflecting different aspects of vulnerability, faith, emotional struggle, and self-reflection. He also released the project Tryna Cope, a body of work centred around navigating internal battles, emotion, and healing through creativity and expression.

As an artist, Dean continues to use spoken word as more than performance — but as a way to start conversations, encourage reflection, and give voice to emotions and experiences that many people struggle to express themselves.
