The Burma are an Indie Rock N’ Roll band based in Cork, Ireland. The 3 piece is made up of Tony O Donovan (Vocals), Peter Piggott (Lead Guitar) - both from Cobh Co. Cork, and Cian Doherty (Drummer) from Doolin, Co. Clare. The band is named after The Burma Steps in Cobh. Accrediting their sound to influences of the American Indie scene of the early 2000’s and British guitar bands of the 80s and 90s, The Burma lists bands such as The Killers, Tame Impala, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes as their inspiration.

The Burma have released two Top 5 Independent Irish Albums with the albums charting at No. 3 (“Sucker For Stars” - 2022) & No. 4 (“Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities” - 2023) respectively.

They have landed support slots for acts such as The Academic, The Strypes, Delorentos, Ryan Sheridan, The Blizzards and have regularly toured the Irish Festival circuit with slots at Other Voices, All Together Now, Indiependence, Forest Fest, Clifden Arts Festival, Wild Roots, Doolin Folk Festival and many more. 2023 saw the band play their biggest Irish Headline show to date at Live at St. Lukes, Cork as well as their first UK sell out show in The Canal Bar, Camden.

A massive 2024 is in store for the Indie 3-piece with some of their biggest gigs ever to be announced over the coming months including a slot on the prestigious Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2024. The band are also in the midst of recording their third album with Grammy Award winning Producer Ruadhrí Cushnan (Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran, George Michael) in Camden Recording Studios, Dublin.
