Síle Daly PPRNCM, LWCMD, LTCL, M.Sc. (Hons), B.Sc. (Hons).
Oboist, community musician, composer.
Síle’s professional career, while eclectic, has its roots in classical music. As an oboist, she has performed
with many orchestras and given solo and chamber music recitals in Europe, America, Britain and Ireland.
Her passion in music is for the innovative the exciting, music that stirs the senses. She is particularly
interested in the merging of music of diverse genres with improvisation, movement, literature, art and
theatre. She has written, composed, arranged and devised music, movement and design for such
performances in Ireland and Norway. Other theatrical work includes incidental music with The Royal
Shakespeare Theatre Company in London playing Shawms, Bombard, Rauschpfeife, Crumhorns, Oboes,
and Keyboards & Percussion.
As a soloist and artist she has performed with numerous ensembles including Prey Trio, Crash Ensemble,
VOX21, Con Tempo String Quartet, Vanbrugh String Quartet and has recorded and composed for CD, radio and television.
As a community musician, she has worked extensively with the National Concert Hall’s Learn and Explore
programme, with many other groups and independently, bringing musical improvisation and composition to schools and venues throughout the country. She is one of the musicians in residence at the education department of the Wexford Opera House .
She toured with Music Network’s Musicwide series with Prey Trio and worked as facilitator in their Music
in Healthcare project.
She was a member of the National Chamber choir for many years.
She is fascinated by geology, anthropological interactions with the environment and is a member of
Astronomy Ireland.
Síle plays on an oboe purchased with the support of Music Network's Music Capital Scheme, funded by
the Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht. Music Network is funded by the Arts Council.
