Electronica // Dublin

Ships are Simon Cullen and Sorca McGrath. They live in Dublin and enjoy experimenting with sound and song.

In late 2011 they landed on the live music scene in Ireland following their posting of a track, Two Hearts, to Soundcloud which got the attention of local and lauded blogger Nialler9.

In May 2012 they released their first single "You're Gonna Feel It" as part of a double A side with friends and cohorts I Am The Cosmos on the flip side, played a bunch of gigs and shaped their sound some more. Following that was a release on Berlin's Stratosfear label of a 7" single 'Space Inside'

They have been invited to play sets in galleries, parks, alternative city spaces and even on a boat. Along with a selection of diverse supports slots from Jape, Kool Thing, Jessie Ware, to New York's Wolf and Lamb and Soul Clap and have played some of Ireland's most loved festivals including, Castlepalooza, Electric Picnic, The Sea Sessions, Hard Working Class Heroes , Camden Crawl Dublin

Their sound has been both widely and wildly compared with that of Fleetwood Mac, DFA, Kraftwerk, Moloko, Prince and Neil Sedaka to name a few, while they themselves offer that the comparisons made to date, when correct, reveal only a handful of their heroes. However they say their greatest influence is the human mind and the power of relationship, companionship and all the other 'ships that make the sum of life greater than our parts.

With new material for their debut album currently under construction Simon and Sorca will keep themselves busy with live shows over 2014, including Body and Soul, Castlepalooza and some magical trips to Cork, Belfast and perhaps places between, see the gigs page for updates!
