Shane O'Donovan

Shane O’Donovan is a Dublin based jazz drummer and electronic music producer and performer. Currently very active on the Dublin jazz scene, Shane is involved in a number of projects alongside some of Ireland's leading jazz musicians. These include Michael Buckley’s Ebb and Flow, Hugh Buckley’s Purple Dayz, Tom Caraher Quintet, OKO, Magical Dog, Gamerz with Kit Downes and John Moriarty Quartet. He has also worked with many top international musicians such as Tim Berne, Greg Osby, Ernie Watts, Rick Margitza, Guy Barker and Jamie Oehlers, to name a few. After many years spent producing and performing electronic music Shane has amassed a vast repertoire ranging from melodic ambient to abstract experimental beats and soundscapes. Shane’s drumming style can be characterised as an amalgamation of the Jazz drumming of legendary jazz drummers such Elvin Jones and Tony Williams and the complex grooves common to contemporary styles of groove based electronic music.
