Sara Lou

Pop // Dublin, Dublin

Sara Lou is a singer, songwriter and musician, originally from Waterford, Ireland, who has quickly become regarded as one of the most promising and prolific new talents to emerge from Ireland in recent years, landing herself a nomination for "Best New Artist" at the 2009 Balcony TV Music Awards, and also being short-listed for "Most Promising New Artist for 2010" at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards.

At the young age of four, she started out as an Irish dancer and musician playing flute and tin whistle in the Irish Trad scene, and has since toured Asia, America and the Middle East performing in a prominent Irish dance show. During her dancing years, Sara Lou won four All-Ireland medals, three Scottish and British medals, and was also ranked in the World Irish Dancing Championships. Her burning passion however, has always been singing and songwriting.

At eighteen years of age, she decided to branch out on her own, and began playing guitar and singing in local venues. Early in 2008 she was the winner of an online talent contest, winning herself a whopping $10,000. After such an encouraging response, she began to write more original material, composing some very catchy, melodic tunes and penning some very astute lyrics. Over the next few months, Sara Lou worked tirelessly in the studio where she recorded her debut E.P. entitled "See You Soon". As a result, in August 2008, Sara Lou was approached to sing on the soundtrack to an Irish-made movie.

Vocally, Sara Lou is quite unique with an enchanting yet quirky element, and has been described as having a “beautiful voice full of sensitivity and passion”. With the desire for Sara Lou’s melodious songs and wonderful voice, she is constantly in demand gigging nationally, achieving a huge fan base and widespread acclaim for her live performances.

During 2009, Sara Lou performed as guest support for numerous artists including Mick Flannery, Aslan, Eleanor McEvoy, Bagatelle, John Spillane, and many more, as well as playing her own gigs nationwide in all the established live music venues. She has also performed at a number of festivals, various Internet shows, and on numerous radio and television programmes across the country.

2010 has already been a very busy year for Sara Lou, with some impressive guest supports with a host of artists including Juliet Turner, Republic of Loose and Bagatelle, numerous gigs and festival performances, and a number of dates in the U.K. already under her belt. Sara Lou has also been confirmed to perform at Electric Picnic 2010.
