Sara Gerdine

Folk // Galway

Sara Gerdine is a multi-talented and versatile singer/songwriter from the west of Ireland. Having grown up in a musical family, Sara was surrounded by music from a very young age. She initially pursued studies in Art and Design but decided to take a break from college. It was at that point that she, perhaps inevitably, took up playing the guitar. Inspired by this new musical journey, within a couple of months, Sara had written her first original song.

Soon after, Sara began to perform multiple gigs around her hometown, gaining local recognition and her own loyal following. Her confidence and stage presence was boosted by overwhelmingly positive responses to her performances. She continued to write material during this time, all the while gaining experience of performing live at a variety of events, such as the Galway Fringe Festival, Celtic Connections Festival and the Boyle Arts Festival. She also performed, and continues to perform, at many charity events, lending her considerable talent to worthwhile organisations such as Cancer Care West.

Sara then fulfilled a life-long dream of hers by returning to college to study Classical singing in the Royal Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland. After three years of hugely enjoyable hard work and dedication, Sara graduated with honours.

Despite having a great love of Classical music and thoroughly enjoying performing at her classical concerts, with time, Sara felt drawn back to her roots in the Folk and Country genres. Having a gut instinct to revisit her original material, Sara dusted off her older songs that had lain silent in the attic for years and brought them back to life, along with her more recent songs.

With her amazing ability to reach people through her beautiful and emotive voice, her captivating and unique recordings are ones to watch out for!
