Rob MacLeod is an Irish songwriter, producer and recording artist best known for his work with the alternative rock project Rain, a band now preparing to return with a brand-new album and live tour in 2026. Blending atmospheric alternative rock with cinematic production, emotional songwriting and modern electronic textures, Rain built a reputation for powerful live performances and ambitious studio work, earning attention within the Irish independent music scene.
Alongside his work as an artist, Rob has spent over two decades working across music production, artist development and the wider music industry. As a producer and songwriter he has worked on over 50 albums and numerous singles, securing chart success and industry recognition both in Ireland and internationally. His career has included recording and production work connected to world-renowned studios including Abbey Road and Real World Studios, while his songwriting and production work has also led to publishing relationships with major independent publishers.
Rob’s approach to music combines old-school songwriting values with a modern understanding of audience-building, digital media and independent artist development. This dual perspective has allowed him to remain active not only as a creator, but also as a mentor and collaborator for emerging artists across Ireland and beyond.
Now returning focus to his own creative output, Rob is entering a new chapter with Rain — bringing together years of musical experience, production knowledge and personal storytelling into a fresh body of work aimed at both long-time listeners and a new generation discovering the project for the first time.
Outside of his artist career, Rob has also worked extensively in music education, recording studio development and artist mentoring, helping support independent musicians in building sustainable careers in the modern music industry.
