‘Best Laid Plans’ is the latest offering from new Irish band, neptune blood.
Out on July 14 2025, on all streaming platforms.
A new and yet nostalgic sound, ‘Best Laid Plans’ is an industrial stomping track with driving bass lines, near-heavenly backing vocals, rounding off with a psychedelic payoff.
The song was recorded with producer Ben Wanders (Kneecap, The Scratch) at Wanderland Recording Studio. The track's lyrics explore the concept of preparation, and no matter how much you plan for, the rug can always be swept from under you. But the important thing is to carry on.
The Limerick-based sextet are no stranger to this. Formerly of such groups as Fox Jaw and The Hip Neck Blues Collective, they’ve honed their craft over many years, touring & releasing music, and despite those ventures not being here anymore - they still are. Still making music, and most importantly, together.
Singer, Ronan Mitchell explains; “It’s about being able to roll with the punches and adapt to whatever life throws at you. You can prepare for all eventualities and the wheels can still come off at any time.” Mitchell continues “Or, as Mike Tyson put it; “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
The song’s music video compliments it with a self-shot trippy visual journey, with a cacophony of in-camera effects and projections. Photo sensitive viewer discretion advised.
