MT.Heads

Indie // Dun Laoighre, Dublin // They/Them

Praised by Ignite Music Magazine as “on the verge of something big” and likened by Indie Boulevard to Kurt Cobain for their sharp, hook-driven songwriting, MT.Heads are carving their own lane in Ireland’s alternative scene, fusing introspective alt-pop with infectious grooves and a brass-tinted live sound.

Fronted by John Daly (Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar) and Sam Connolly (Drums), the band expands live into a powerful five-piece with Aisling Stephens McGowan (Bass), Feargal McCabe (Lead Guitar), and Callum Byrne (Trumpet). Their sound combines groove-driven rhythms, infectious melodies, and brass flourishes, creating a magnetic live energy that sets them apart. As Music Crowns put it, MT.Heads “blend groove-driven rhythms with thought-provoking lyrics and genre-defying soundscapes.” For fans of Dominic Fike, The Strokes, and Hard Life, the band continues to carve out their own identity while building serious momentum.

MT.Heads’ releases have received support from BBC Radio, RTÉ 2FM, Radio Nova, Liffey Sound FM, and iHeartRadio USA. 2024 saw the debut EP Windows Turned to Walls (produced by acclaimed Irish producer Daniel De Burca) and singles such as Dirty Emeralds, Cranes, and Feel Alright, earning features in Hot Press, RTÉ Entertainment, Music Crowns, Press Party, and Curious for Music. In 2025, their single All I Ever Wanted gained significant radio support, while their 2026 release Freezing Over has opened the year with strong momentum, cementing them as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging alternative acts.

Onstage, MT.Heads have sold out headline shows at key Dublin venues including Whelan’s Upstairs, The Workman’s Club, and The Grand Social, and made their festival debut at Sea Sessions 2023. They’ve also supported international acts such as Landon Conrath and been recognised in Whelan’s Ones To Watch and the Guinness NYF Music Trail.

The band’s story also includes a viral moment in 2022, when drummer Sam Connolly, dubbed “Sam from Monkstown,” joined The Killers onstage in front of 30,000 people at Malahide Castle.

Entering 2026 with new releases, sold-out shows, and high-profile support slots ahead, MT.Heads continue to grow their fanbase with an impressive DIY ethic, proving that their rise reflects not only their talent but also their relentless commitment to their craft.
