Martin McDonnell, 18 year old singer songwriter from Dublin, who’s stunning voice and mature song writing has been wowing listeners since he began playing and writing in August 2018. Developing his craft while busking on the streets of Dublin, Martin won Best Solo Act and Then Best over all Act at the 2019 All Ireland Busking Fleadh Held by Whelans and Windmill lane Recording Studios, his music has caught the attention of radio dj’s, gig bookers, music lovers and industry folk alike, propelling him to performances at the likes of The Ruby Sessions (previous performers include Ed Sheeran, Hozier and Gavin James), Whelans and The 2019 Makeup Awards All four chapter, along with showcases at the Wiley Fox, The International Bar and supporting celebrated Irish singer and songwriter Mick Hanley at The DC Music club to name a few.
His debut single ‘Hold Me Tight’ received praise from the likes of The Hot Press – “‘Hold me Tight’ has the mature lyrics, refined vocals and buoyant instrumentals which are sure to propel the young one to something greater than busking on Sunday mornings. Keep an eye out.”
And ‘Music From The Heart’ – “The maturity of the lyrics goes hand in hand with the vocal delivery where Martin McDonnell presents himself as a seasoned singer. You wouldn't believe this is his first release.”
Now releasing his follow up ‘Like You Did Something Wrong’ Martin shows his versatility and power as both singer and songwriter, a rock, funk pop power ballad that feels like the Chilli Peppers and The Cars had a baby back in the 80’s that grew up to be a metal head.
