Marc O'Sullivan Vallig is a writer, artist, musician and curator.
He has released one EP of his own compositions, which featured the songs Balaam's Ass, A Handful and Free World Fever.
He published his first book, People of the Sea: A Maritime History of Beara, in 2020, and his second, People of Beara: From Dunboy to Waterloo, Iowa in 2024. His third book, The War of Independence on the Beara Peninsula, will be published in July 2026. He is also nearing completion of his first novel.
He works as a freelance arts journalist, and was Arts Editor of the Irish Examiner from 2008 - 2014.
Marc's work as a visual artist has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Ireland and the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin and the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, He was shortlisted for the National Portrait Prize in 2022.
Marc curated the exhibition Terry O'Neill at CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery and Cork City Hall in 2013, and Seán Scully: Figure/Abstract in 2015.
