Luke Howard

Alternative // Howth, Dublin

Luke Howard is a singer-songwriter, pianist and multi-instrumentalist from Howth, Co. Dublin. Luke was born into a musical family and began studying classical piano and violin at an early age. As a teenager he became a self taught guitarist and began to write songs, influenced by the likes of John Martyn, Nick Drake, Bon Iver and Radiohead. After completing a degree in jazz piano performance at Dublin's Newpark Music Centre/DCU he started writing songs again, seeking to bring together all the eclectic strands of music that have influenced him over the years, from the classical/folk roots of his early education and family environment, to the alternative influences of his teenage years, and the jazz influences of adulthood. Luke is currently in the final stages of completing his debut EP which is due for release in summer 2024.

"Luke Howard established himself as a talented songwriter and piano player with dense thoughtful chords, a mysterious quality to his voicings, and an outstanding rhythm section behind him to boot - an incredible showing by the young combo which melded some analog electronic elements with deft and sophisticated musicianship." - Adhamh O'Caoimh - The Goo
