Llama Cult

Folk // Malahide, Dublin

Llama Cult is an indie folk band co-lead by singer-songwriter duo Karl Tuohy and Donagh Kelly. The pair began making music together in 2022 as a duo and have since then expanded into a five-piece folk-rock syndicate. Their live shows, which see the pair supported by drums, bass, electric guitar and violin, are equal parts explosive and heartfelt, showcasing quality songwriting against the backdrop of a high energy, improvisatory ensemble.

Llama Cult's careful songwriting craft and jam-band tendencies, influenced by their love for Irish and American folk music, have proved to resonate with audiences across the country. Despite taking some time away from the spotlight to focus on recording, this past year has included highlights for the band such as opening for Florence Road in Bello Bar and joining Arabú in the Roisín Dubh as part of their Irish Tour. In the past, the band has played numerous sold out headliners across Dublin, and has recieved great reception at the Whelan's Ones to Watch and Summerwatch festivals. Their debut single, Western Side, has achieved popularity on streaming despite being home-grown on a budget, and has proven to be an earworm and fan-favourite at live shows.

With their debut EP, 'Llama Culture', on the way, along with a tour across Ireland and the UK to promote it, Llama Cult have nowhere to go but up. All that's left now is to indoctrinate the world.
