Keith Coleman

Carrickmacross, County Monaghan

My name is Keith Coleman, I'm 22 years old from Magheracloone, Co. Monaghan

I have always had a keen interest in music and songwriting in particular from a young age. Firstly, i started off playing in the Lochrann Linn brass and reed band in Carrickmacross and then moved towards playing the guitar.

My first venture into playing with a band came when i was in transition year in the Patrician High School Carrickmacross, the band was called 'Black Tie Event' and consisted of Mel Jones on vocals and rhythm guitar , Sean Morris on bass, Luke Cassidy on Drums and i played the Lead guitar. We played countless bars around our area, consisted of mostly cover gigs, but also opened for the likes of "Aine Cahill" in whelans in Dublin, played the 'Dundalk Festival of lights' and also ventured all across the country.

After school, I studied music & audio production in Dkit for 2 years, i learned a lot from my time there and it proved to be invaluable experience when i went about to write and record the album.

I decided then to get an album together of all the tracks i've been writing and donate all the proceeds to both the Irish Cancer Society and Cancer Focus NI, two incredible charities that do unbelievable work, basically because i believe they deserve all the support that they can get and if this helps them out in any way possible that would be amazing.

Peter McCoy produced three tracks on the album, 'Makes Me Stay', 'Same Love' and 'Get Outta Town' with Luke Cassidy playing drums, Mel Jones on the backing vocals and guitar and Sean Morris on bass. Peter is a Graduate from DKit who studied Music and Audio Production and is absolutely incredible at what he does, definitely would suggest getting in contact with him if anybody is looking to record an album.

The album is called 'Stories' and consists of 8 tracks and is/will be available to buy and stream by the 18th of February on all streaming platforms including Spotify and Itunes.(depending on when the article is released).

What you expect from the album is a sound between the likes of Picture This, The Academic and other irish artists that are doing incredible at the minute and artists i aspire to be.

I'm really looking forward to see how people respond to album and hope everybody can get behind such a great cause, the Irish music scene is booming at the minute with so many fantastic artists on the scene, hopefully 2019 is another great year for Irish Music and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.
