Julia-Maria

Folk // Clonakilty , Cork // She/ Her

Julia-Maria is an Irish songwriter, session cellist and vocalist based in West Cork. Her introspective songwriting and emotionally resonant voice are emboldened by her rich organic arrangements, drawing deeply from the Irish landscape and the emotional textures of her life.

Alongside her original work, Julia-Maria has become an active presence within the Irish and international touring scene as a cellist and backing vocalist, performing with artists including Ben Howard, Pa Sheehy, The Fynches and How I Became a Wave. Her collaborative work has seen her tour extensively across Ireland, Europe and the United States while continuing to develop her own distinctive artistic voice.

Her upcoming debut album, "Love is a Thing with Teeth", marks a new chapter in her work. Rooted in live performance and human connection, the record embraces imperfection, warmth and honesty, favouring lived-in recordings where the breath, movement and emotion of the players remain intact. The album explores love, longing, identity and change through close vocals, layered harmonies and cinematic folk arrangements. "Love is a Thing with Teeth" album release cycle will start in August 2026 with a launch show in Coughlans', Cork on the 3rd of September.

Julia-Maria previously released the EPs With Me (2021) and The Skin I’m In (2024), both of which received extensive radio play and support from the Irish music press, including Hot Press, IMRO, Nialler9, GoldenPlec, and The Last Mixed Tape.

“Cast against a glistening folk milieu, ‘With Me’ centres itself around a captivating vocal that leads the listener along the emotional thread.” — The Last Mixed Tape
