Jonique is the solo project of the Irish songwriter, formerly known as the frontperson of alt-rock two-piece Fräulein. Launching her solo project in late 2025, Jonique marks a shift towards a more intimate, expansive and cinematic side to her songwriting.

Her songs explore identity, memory and belonging, reflecting on childhood and growing up as a mixed-race girl in a small town in the North of Ireland. The result is music that feels both deeply personal and widely resonant.

Drawing on confessional storytellers like Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley and Adrianne Lenker, her music retains the edge of alt-rock, while weaving in the atmospheric influence of 90s trip-hop and electronic artists like Björk and Tricky.

At the heart of Jonique’s work is stark, emotionally direct songwriting. Her lyrics are the backbone: simple, honest and cutting, while the music shifts through restraint, tension and release. Each song unfolds like a scene, with its own distinct palette and atmosphere, tied together by her unmistakable voice.
