IAN JOYCE

Ian Joyce combines live music performance, drawing, painting, sculpture and sound installation.

While on scholarship (1977-1979) at Lester Pearson College,Vancouver Island, Canada, he began composing music and texts for short plays and performances. During 1981 he taught for a period in a primary school on a Tibetan refugee camp in Karnataka, India, before continuing studies in Dublin and West Berlin..

His work has been performed live and exhibited in Ireland, France, Germany, Finland, Iceland, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Bosnia, as well as in Georgia and Armenia, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. 

Ian's current work in music and film meditate on the landscape, language and environment where he lives and works in county Donegal.

Ian Joyce has undertaken public art commissions in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Germany and participated in artist in residence programmes in Spain, Germany, Taiwan.
