Groev

Folk // Galway City , Galway

Groev (pronounced Grove) are a Galway-based indie folk/pop six-piece made up of Joe Sweeney, Rory O'Regan, Jack Lennox, Mike Glynn, and brothers Evan and Keagan Forde. Formed in 2024 from late-night sessions and pints, they've fully leaned into what they call a ‘drinking band with a music problem.’

Drawing on the traditions of Irish music while reaching further afield, Groev have carved out a sound that sits comfortably in the indie-folk world. The boys are earnest and rooted, but threaded through with the craic of the West of Ireland. With only five songs released, each track represents a distinct slice of life in their twenties, shaped by the kind of lived-in honesty that their influences, Amble, Kingfisher, Sam Fender, and Paolo Nutini have always done so well.

Their five-track discography already has over 500,000 streams on Spotify, but it's live where Groev really comes alive. From Jack's (now legendary) dance moves to Joe and Keagan sinking pints mid-set. There's a warmth and nostalgia to their shows that, even when you hear them for the first time, you can’t help but feel like you’ve known them for years.
