Gabriel Gonzalez

Gabriel González is a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose music serves as a bridge between the music traditions of Spain and South America and the musical landscapes of the West of Ireland.
Born into a life of melody, Gabriel spent his childhood studying music and traveling across Spain with his family as his mother was a touring traditional music singer. It was within the vibrant energy of international folk festivals that he first encountered Irish music and specially the flute—a discovery that would lead him to make Galway his home over 20 years ago.
Gabriel’s career is defined by a restless musical curiosity. A versatile performer on both flute and guitar, he has brought his sound to stages across Europe and the USA, touring extensively through Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. Beyond the stage, his compositions have provided the emotional backdrop for numerous films and documentaries, blending his classical training with a deep, intuitive understanding of folk idioms.
After years of collaboration, Gabriel released his debut solo album, Waiting for The Tide, in 2022. His 2026 project turns the lens toward the rugged geography of his adopted home. Led by the single "The Road to Cross Beach," these new tracks are a sonic map of the "magical roads" of the Irish West—the winding paths Gabriel travels to find stillness, inspiration, and a sense of place.
