Forgotten|Soldier is the musical stage name of Leitrim based DIY synth-punk solo artist Ronan McManus who uses a groovebox and guitar to create punk driven tracks. All the tracks contain passionate and searing vocals that question and probe both local and national issues in a style similar to Meryl Streek.
The music's soaring and punchy sound has strong nods to 80s bands The Minutemen and Mission of Burma; along with modern day bands such as Nation of Language and Future Islands.
He has released two EPs to date with Man on a Bridge being released in 2018 and Doing My Own Research coming in 2022; several tracks from these EPs got both local and national airplay.
2025 got off to a strong start for Forgotten|Soldier with the release of a new single Act of Nothingness in April. The track gained a positive reaction and has been described as a sharp and driven track with a vocal style reminiscent of Ferghal Mckee from Whipping Boy. The remainder of 2025 was a busy one for Forgotten|Soldier with a number of gigs across the North-West of Ireland.
In 2026 Forgotten|Soldier was selected as a participant in Songlines; which is a cross-border music development and performance project. The culmination of the project was a gig at the Stendhal Festival in Derry in July 2026.
