F L E C K S are Freya Monks and Scott Halliday, a synth-pop duo who have been writing and producing music together since 2012. Drawing inspiration from 80s cinema, classic synth-pop, and dark atmospheric film scores, the duo have developed a distinctive cinematic sound that has earned them both critical attention and a growing international audience.

Working from their studio in Kildare, Flecks write, record, produce and mix their own music independently. Their debut EP, Girl, received national radio play in Ireland and led to placements in RTÉ’s acclaimed drama Striking Out with their track “Objects of Desire.”

In 2018, Flecks released their breakthrough single “Samurai,” a song about friendship, courage, and finding strength within yourself. Premiered by Dan Hegarty on RTÉ 2FM’s The Alternative and later featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist, “Samurai” became the duo’s most successful release to date and significantly expanded their listenership.

Their 2019 follow-up single, “Doubles,” explored themes of secret lives and star-crossed lovers, continuing the darker cinematic tone that has become central to the Flecks sound. The song later went on to feature in a global advertising campaign for Estée Lauder, introducing the band’s music to an international audience.

Since then, the duo have continued to release new music independently while steadily building an active, international audience. Flecks currently attract over 96,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and continue to grow their fanbase through streaming platforms, playlist support, and ongoing releases. They are currently working on their next single and forthcoming EP, which is planned for release this summer.

Their work reflects a strong commitment to independent music production, collaboration, and artistic development within Ireland’s contemporary music scene.
