Exit the Street

Alternative // Cork

Five friends from Cork, Ireland, Exit the Street quickly gained acclaim by winning a Guinness ´Battles of the Bands´ national competition only a few months into their birth. This was shortly followed by the release of their debut self-titled EP in March of 2005 produced by Cyclefly´s (M.C.A. Records) Ciaran O´Shea.

They garnered a strong live reputation often packing clubs in Ireland, particularly in their home town of Cork where they still hold the record attendance in Cyprus Avenue, one of the city´s top live music hot spots.

In 2006 while beginning work on their second studio release with producer Simon Widdowson (The Decemberists), Exit the Street were chosen as finalists in an Irish music broadcast screened live on national television. The competition in which the winning band were chosen on by public votes was hugely popular and featured the best of Irelands musical output. Exit the Street won the competition and were sent on a trip to Memphis to play a live concert.

The hard working band were to return with Ciaran O´Shea at the production helm for their next release which saw them further harness their melodic, upbeat sound. The ´Just’ EP was released in 2008 to great critical acclaim and earned the group regular airplay on many stations nationwide.

Now in 2009 Exit the Street have just completed their latest studio effort to be released in September. The eagerly anticipated cd is the sound of a band who have truly married their creativity with a maturity delivering a mixture of quality pop and worthy rock. Debut album set for a 2010 release.
