EDEL MURPHY is a once-in-a-generation artist with a rare ability to move her audience. From Lucan in County Dublin, Edel has performed as a solo artist across Ireland several times to wide acclaim and been described as having "a voice that would silence angels" (artsreview.com)
Most recently in January 2026 Edel supported the platinum selling Irish folk group The High Kings on their national tour playing to sold out shows across Ireland.
Edel’s sound was born from late-night jam sessions and song swaps on long tourbus journeys while performing across America where she met her producer Ewan Cowley and began choosing and writing character driven, timeless songs with intimate, contemporary folk arrangements.
Edel signed with Irish label Crashed Music in 2024 and released her debut album "Motherland Songs" in May 2025. This was followed by the singles "Harbor" and Edel's self-penned "Careless Hands", both of which received wide national radio airplay.
The album "Motherland Songs" is a historical jukebox of anthems of struggle and celebration featuring original songs by Edel, work by new songwriters and alongside songs written or made famous by great female artists.
Early in her career Edel toured the world backing up Emmy-nominated Irish music group Celtic Woman and starred as soprano soloist with the world renowned Riverdance - The Show at The Gaiety Theatre, Dublin and at Hammersmith Apollo, London. She featured at 3Arena Dublin in early 2020 at the show's 25th anniversary run and appears on the 25th Anniversary filmed special. In 2016 Edel released her first EP, 'Bluebonnet Spring' which enjoyed both UK and Irish radio play (BBC, RTÉ).
