drifting. is a project based on a lifetime of moving.

Its the lofi indie rock project of John Drifter. It is entirely DIY; drawing inspiration from VHS, cassette culture, nostalgia, and transatlanticism - blending hazy sonic textures with twinkly guitars.

Think John Grant going on a psychedelic, spiritual-awakening with The Strokes , Deerhunter , Hüsker Dü and The Cure - and this is what you get.

Following the debut EP ‘73 dame st’ in August 2024, John has released 19 songs to date. With a new collection of guitar-driven tracks on the horizon, 2026 marks a turning point for drifting. - a project always moving, evolving, and traversing.
