David Punch is an upcoming music artist from Cork. People locally known him by his stage name ‘Punchy’.
His presence on stage is second to none, guiding his audience throughout his songs that he plays. The genre that he loves playing is ‘pop’ and ‘rock’. His favourite artists are; Ed Sheeran, Bruce Springsteen and Robbie Williams.
Singing and music is a major interest in his life.
He started singing when he was 5 years old but got singing lessons when he was a teenager.
He started off in the 'Academy of Popular Music' then ended up going to 'Voiceworks'. With the help of Gemma Sugrue and her team, he wouldn't be where he is today without them.
During Transition Year in secondary school, he did music as part of a non curricular programme. Before Christmas, he set out on releasing a charity CD for the ASD Unit in the school. He decided to put up covers, using an instrumental to promote the CD and ever since then he hasn't stopped. Since 2016, he has been playing guitar. He was thought with the use of YouTube.
In 2016, he performed in front of around 800 students during R&G week in CIT and also during freshers week 2018. In 2018, he performed in University College Cork for ‘Freshers Week’ performing in the college bar on the campus. He also performed for UCC R&G week this year. He has also performed in Dublin, Galway, Clare, and Kerry for college events.
He has performed in the new Cyprus Avenue in February for CSN Live N ’ Gigging.
David is now studying Level 6 ‘Music, Management & Sound' in Colaiste Stiofan Naofa and he is now hoping that he will work in the music industry after his studies. He has recently released a charity single to raise money for the ‘Jack O' Driscoll Fund'.
