David Anthony is an Irish musician, singer & producer active Since 2017. As well as the frontperson and songwriter of Irish experimental band BODIES, they are a member of Indie-Punk outfit Melter & sometime member/songwriter in BLOOMS.
Throughout a dizzyingly busy 24 months during 2018/19, BODIES released their debut album, “DRENCH”, sold out The Grand Social, graced festival stages all over Ireland (Electric Picnic / Castlepalooza / Groove Festival and Fuinneamh among others), received national radio play, critical acclaim and countless radio & print interviews. BODIES were truly one of the up and coming acts in Ireland.
Then, due to breaking multiple bones as a result of a traffic accident while cycling as well as contracting a debilitating virus, David Anthony was forced to cancel all shows, tours, recording sessions & any future musical plans.
During the pandemic they began writing music to be performed alone and after receiving a grant from the Arts Council they began recording a solo album to be recorded and mixed from David Prendergast (Overhead, The Albatross) & Jason Boland (Kodaline).
The album is almost completed and first single ‘Never Said’ is due out in summer 2026.
The album is planned for release in summer 2027 with 4 singles to be released before the album comes out. In support of the album shows are planned throughout 2026 all over Ireland as well as some UK & German shows planned for 2027.
They run the rehearsal rooms/ art space/ record label DEAFHOUSE. They have also recently built a recording studio to focus on studio work.
A long time promoter and event organiser, they have been running a monthly (or so) live music showcase with alternative market caller GLOAM. The events focus primarily on local talent in the Goth/Shoegaze/Noise Rock/Darkwave and electronic genres with occasional international artists playing at the events when the opportunity is there to do that.
