Damien Cain

Alternative // Mountmellick, Laois // he/him

Damien Cain is a German-born, Ireland-based singer, songwriter, composer and producer whose work moves between alternative rock, melodic metal, gothic influences and cinematic storytelling.

Active as a musician since the late 1980s, Cain first gained wider recognition with his former band CAIN. Their album Age of Darkness went on to sell more than 250,000 copies, establishing him as an independent artist long before his return to recording under his own name.

Over the years, his work has brought him together with musicians and artists from across Europe and beyond. One particularly unusual collaboration was with legendary actor Sir Christopher Lee, who contributed his unmistakable voice to Cain’s song Elenore.

Now based in Ireland, Cain returned as a solo artist with STANDARTE, released in December 2025. The album was created with musicians from Ireland, the UK, Finland, Argentina, Brazil and the United States and combines heavy guitars, dark melodic textures and highly personal songwriting. Mixed in Dublin by Ivan Jackman at Hellfire Studios, it reflects both Cain’s European background and the creative environment of his adopted home in Ireland.

STANDARTE reached the Top 4 of the American Alternative Charts,, while several songs received international radio airplay. In 2026, both Standarte and Fascinating Face were named finalists at the InterContinental Music Awards, with the title track Standarte ultimately winning the award in the European Metal category.

Cain continues to write and produce music from Ireland, combining a long-standing rock background with a deliberately individual and cross-genre approach.
