Ciara Finnerty

Other // Blarney, Cork // She/her

Ciara Finnerty is a multilingual singer-songwriter from Co.Kerry. She has a Masters in Music Performance from MTU Cork School of Music, and a degree in languages from Trinity College Dublin. For the past number of years, Ciara has also worked with Pat Ahern, founder of Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, and has gained a deep grá and appreciation for the Irish idiom, and for the folk culture held within our beautiful songs ('little gems' as Pat calls them). Ciara’s performances draw on the influences of different languages and cultures that she has immersed herself in the study of. Ciara is fluent in Spanish (and almost fluent in Italian) and she collected hispanic songs during her time singing with a Medieval Spanish travelling mistral group in Spain, and working as a language assistant and translator at The University of Córdoba.

Ciara has extensive experience performing in many different genres, including internationally, alongside stars such as Snarky Puppy's Bob Reynolds and Galicia’s Carlos Nuñez, and with the Orchestra Improvvisata in Rome. She received the RIAM High Achievers Award for both her Grade VIII classical, and Grade VI musical theatre examinations, and was invited to perform at the RIAM High Achievers Gala concert.

Following a period of grief, illness, and voice loss a few years ago, Ciara went on a journey of healing and reconnection with her authentic voice. She now draws on the experience and wisdom of the many healers and voice teachers she worked with on that journey in her performances and singing circles.

Ciara was a recipient of the Arts Council Agility Award, and is currently in the process of recording some of her music, while also training to become a Sound Healer.
