Declan Galbraith is a singer-songwriter whose early career brought international attention through the anti-war song Tell Me Why, performed with tens of thousands of children and later recognised by Guinness World Records. His recordings went on to achieve commercial success across Europe, including a second album certified Gold in Germany and Austria.
After stepping away from the music industry for a number of years, Galbraith has returned with a new body of work under the name Child of Mind. This new chapter reflects a more personal and politically engaged approach to songwriting, shaped by time away from the public eye and a renewed focus on themes of conflict, responsibility and human connection.
His recent work brings together a range of influences and collaborators, including string arrangements by John Metcalfe and contributions from Palestinian oud player Saied Silbak. The upcoming release, “Thou Shalt Not Kill,” is a stark, lyric-driven anti-war song that revisits the questions first posed at the beginning of his career, now from an adult perspective.
Positioned between contemporary folk, cinematic arrangement and socially conscious songwriting, Galbraith’s current work aims to create space for reflection. His return marks not only a continuation of an earlier narrative, but a deliberate re-engagement with music as a form of expression and dialogue.
