CARLA

Alternative // Dunboyne, Meath // She/Her

CARLA is an Irish pop artist creating work rooted in contemporary pop with alternative influences, defined by sharp lyricism and an emotionally resonant vocal. Her music explores the evolving experience of womanhood, tracing a line from the introspection of early adulthood to a more grounded, complex perspective shaped by life in her late twenties.

She first emerged as co-founder of the alt-pop duo ELKIN, an independent project active from 2018 to 2023. During this time, ELKIN released an extensive catalogue of singles, later compiled into Anthology, and built a strong presence within the Irish music scene. The duo performed at major festivals including Electric Picnic and Longitude, and were selected for key industry showcases such as Ireland Music Week, Output Belfast, and Music Cork. They were also named as part of Whelan’s ‘One to Watch’ and achieved a sold-out headline show promoted by MCD, alongside consistent national radio play across RTÉ 2FM, Today FM and 98FM.

Now working independently as CARLA, she draws on her background in theatre, holding a BA (Hons) in Drama Performance from TU Dublin, to inform a deeply expressive and narrative-led approach to songwriting and performance. Her current work reflects a shift in perspective examining recurring emotional themes such as identity, relationships and self-worth through a more mature and unflinching lens.

CARLA is focused on developing a distinct solo voice within the Irish music landscape, combining her experience as an established independent artist with a renewed artistic direction that is both intimate and self-assured.
